Bangalore October 9, 2016: Vivid Arts & Entertainment and The Pioneer Arts Education Society, in association with Union Bank of India, National Insurance & the New India Assurance organized a unique Dance Duet Series“Uttar Dakshin”,It was a first of its kind famous series of Classical music and Dance performances by renowned senior artists.
Instilled with majesty and grandeur, this dance series, the first Dance jugalbandi series which presented the classic elements of 2 different dance styles along with technology by twothe prominent dance forms Kathak & Bharatnatyam allured the audience. Artistes of international renounce Smt Ruchi Sharma (who established a world record of 15 hrs marathon kathak recital) &Smt. Sujatha Nair acclaimed Bharatnatyam & Mohiniattam danseuse in Mumbai, presenting the classic parts of both the dance forms, enthralled the audience with their performance.
Music and dance are beyond boundaries of language and bindings meant only to rejoice and entertain apart from being signatures of region and religion. Kathak and Bharatnatyam dance forms have so many similarities though being from different regions. The oneness of the dance forms was potrayed in the
The Way this planet is divided between Northen & Southern Hemisphere, so is our Country which shows clear differentiation between its Northern & Southern parts. Be it the Attire, Culture, Language, customs, etc. the distinction is very evident. But, in spite of these differences in Social & Cultural organisations, it has by no means able to mask the many elements of continuity that exists. And, what can explain this better than the world of Art, Music, Dance, literature & poetry. Art is a seamless concept and it recognizes no boundary. Uttar Dakshin is a humble attempt to portray this Union, said Mr. Narahari, the Managing partner of Vivid Arts & Entertainment. This was a first of its kind attempt which we got into Karnataka with Jugalbandi formats and we are glad it was loved by the audience of Bangalore. After the grand success at Bangalore, we will be taking this format to Delhi & Hyderabad next.
The Programme began with Ganesh Stuti & Guru Vandana by both the performers, followed by Malvari by Smt. Sujatha Nair. This was followed by Shri Ramachandra Krupalu Bhajumana by both the artists in the Jugalbandi Format with Hindusthani musicians supporting the Katha performance and Carnatic musicians supporting the Bharathanatyam format. This was followed by Thaat by Smt. Ruchi Sharma. While Smt. Sujatha’s Krishna nee begane baro was mesmarising, Smt. Ruchi’s Durga Asthothari was a thorough celebration of Durga on the occasion of Navarathri.
The programme not only saw many scintillating moments of Jugalbandi performances by the two dancers in two different formats of dance (Bharathanatyam & Kathak), but also saw some beautiful Jugalbandi between Sarangi & Violin, Tabla & Mrudanga and vocals of Hindusthani & Carnatic, this making it a thorough celebration and Grand union of UTTAR with Dakshin.
