Bengaluru, India, August 09, 2016: Royal Enfield, the fastest growing motorcycle brand in the world, has seen a significant growth in Karnataka for its latest purpose-built motorcycle Himalayan launched in March 2016. Royal Enfield is a pioneer in leisure riding and Karnataka has been a trendsetter in adventure motorcycling.
Speaking on Royal Enfield’s performance in Karnataka, Mr. Shaji Koshy, Head – Sales, Services & Spares, Royal Enfield said “Despite being the first motorcycle in its category in the country, Royal Enfield Himalayan has been well received by its Indian customers, especially in Karnataka. The state currently accounts for more than 25% share of Himalayan sales registered across India, a trend we expect to continue. Infact, Royal Enfield has traditionally performed remarkably well in Karnataka with presence in 47 locations. We have registered 81% growth over corresponding period (April- July) in the last two years with sales of over 18000 units in last 4 months (April 2016 – July 2016). We plan to open 8 more dealerships by March 2017.” Himalayan is available in Granite and Snow color, priced at Rs 1,58,470 (ex showroom price in Bengaluru)
The Himalayan is a ground-up design, powered by a new and evolved overhead camshaft engine platform that forms the base for it’s all-new long stroke LS 410 engine. The engine can go 10,000 kilometres between oil changes. Built on a rugged duplex split cradle frame, designed and developed by Harris Performance, the Himalayan is stable and agile in equal parts. A strong mono shock rear suspension with linkage allows for longer travel and delivers a smoother ride experience regardless of the terrain. The Himalayan’s 220 mm ground clearance ensures it makes through obstacles comfortably. An optimal wheel size combination allows for better control while riding over rocks and ruts
Elucidating on Himalayan’s response in Karnataka, Mr. Shaji Koshy, Royal Enfield said, “The Himalayan, Royal Enfield’s purpose-built adventure tourer has introduced a new category of motorcycles in India and has encouraged more people to take up adventure motorcycling. The non-intimidating spartan design and ease of ownership make the Himalayan an extremely versatile motorcycle that is adept for adventure off-roading, long rides while equally being the definitive choice to navigate India’s urban jungles. ”
Royal Enfield is consistently working towards its ambition of achieving global leadership in the mid-sized motorcycle segment (250-750cc). Built around the core values of timelessness, craftsmanship and an unadulterated love for motorcycling, Royal Enfield has introduced its stores in a new brand retail identity. The stores feature an interesting visual merchandising format with innovative product displays, which include the use of bits and bobs from Royal Enfield motorcycles and photo frames and insignia that speak of the Royal Enfield heritage. A full-blown wall display of a stripped-down Continental GT showcasing the bike’s internals and frame depicts machine love where the rider derives sensorial joy through tactile interplay with his motorcycle. This space has been designed not just as a point of purchase but as a meeting point for enthusiasts and for conversations around motorcycling. The new stores are a step ahead for Royal Enfield towards creating a truly global motorcycle retail experience for its customers.
