Bengaluru’s Bellandur Lake, having attained disrepute for its frothing and foaming waters, is today an example of how the good can turn into the terrible. For over two years now, the lake has been a breeding ground of poison, with the state of its water only deteriorating with time. The dying Bellandur Lake, which has been abused by untreated sewage and rampant encroachment, is also a melting pot of health hazards.
To change the lake’s status-quo, a coalition of lake experts, activists and concerned citizens have come together with Namma Bengaluru Foundation to draw up a comprehensive ‘#SaveBellandur Action Plan” – a set of solutions that aim to save, rejuvenate and revive the dying Lake. The solutions comprise a practical and viable set of actions to bring the lake back to life.
On behalf of the citizens of Bengaluru, Mr. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Member of Parliament, will present this document to Mr. K.J GeorgeBangalore Development and Town Planning Minister with the sincere hope that the implementation of solutions laid down will restore our lost Bellandur Lake to us.
