Bengaluru, June 29, 2015: BURGER KING® India, the Indian arm of QSR giant BURGER KING®, launched its first store in Bengaluru at Phoenix Marketcity, Whitefield on Saturday, marking its much-awaited entry to the South Indian market. It opened to over 12,000 customers on the opening weekend creating QSR history. This restaurant is the first among 6 more that will open at various locations across the city within the next 60 days. With the opening of this restaurant, BURGER KING® will have 18 restaurants spread across Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Chandigarh and now Bengaluru.

 BURGER KING®’s first restaurant in the city was inaugurated by Mr. D Shivakumar, Chairman and CEO, PepsiCo India and Mr. Rajeev Varman, CEO, BURGER KING® India.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Varman said “We are absolutely overwhelmed by the response we’ve received in Bengaluru. And this is just the start! We plan to open 6 stores in quick succession to make our offerings available across all corners of the city. We look forward to serving our much loved burgers, especially the WHOPPER®, to savvy Bengalurians.”

The BURGER KING® India menu offers the widest variety of vegetarian & non-vegetarian burgers with 100% fresh ingredients across various price-points.  Commenting on the menu, Mr. Varman said “India is a unique market. The taste palates though is experimental, mostly people like to savour the taste they are brought up with. That is why we have created an entirely new menu for India.  None of our offerings on the menu are from our global portfolio as we wanted to start afresh. Burger King India’s menu is quite innovative and we wish to offer our customers a whole new experience of burgers. We wish to create a distinct identity and taste that our consumers with resonate with.”

 Prior to launching in India, BURGER KING® undertook an exhaustive exercise to closely understand Indian meal preferences across tier I and II cities. The diverse menu was accordingly created to ensure quality offerings across price-points. Special emphasis was given to setting up an extensive vegetarian menu, including a special series called the Melt range – wholesome patties infused with cheese to give consumers a melt in the mouth experience. Apart from the flagship WHOPPER® which is available in Veg, Chicken and Mutton, the brand has also launched a very unique Tandoor chicken grill burger.

 BURGER KING® has also introduced a very easy upgrade to combo pricing that helps customers enhance their dining experience. You can upgrade any burger to a combo including fries and a fountain drink at just INR 50 across the menu. To move up to a medium fries and drink, you add another INR 20 and to the King size fries & drinks, another INR 20.
