Vijaya Bank – a prime Nationalized Bank  celebrated its 84th Foundation Day today  with many cultural and CSR activities across the country.  While the celebrations were held at all the Regional Offices and branches of the Bank, the main function was held at the Head Office at Bangalore.

The function began with the Chairman, Executive Directors, along with Board of Directors, General Managers, Leaders and representatives of various Unions of the Bank assembled at the Head Office and garlanded the busts of Founder Chairman of the Bank, Late Shri Attavara Balakrishna Shetty and Architect of Modern Vijaya Bank, Late Shri Mulki Sundar Ram Shetty.  This was followed by the  Mulki Sunder Ram Shetty Memorial lecture which is being conducted on the eve of the celebrations, which was delivered by the former Chairman of Bank of Baroda and former IBA Chairman, Shri M D Mallya on the subject, “Strategic Dimensions of Emerging Banking in India”.  Chairman of the Bank, Shri V Kannan, welcomed the gathering.  ED, Shri K. Ramadas Shenoy presented a profile of Shri M D Mallya.  ED, Shri B S Rama Rao proposed vote of thanks.

The evening function was held at the Auditorium of Bank’s head office where 11 celebrities/ reputed personalities/ and achievers were honored; prominent  among them are :

Padma Bhushana Poojya Rajarshi Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade,  Dharmadhikari of Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala, Dakshina  Kannada Dist. Karnataka, Shri Pradip Kumar Dhoot, Founder Director of Videocon group, Dr. Ramadas M. Pai, President & Chancellor of Manipal University, Manipal and other Manipal group institutions, Padma Shri V R Gowri Shankar, Administrator & CEO of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Maha Samsthan of Sringeri Shri Sharada Peetha,    Sringeri.), Dr. Kolyuru Ramachandra Rao, Famous Yakshagana artist and winner of Karnataka State Award winner, Shri N. Lingappa, Dronacharya award winning athletic coach

On this occasion, as a part of its CSR activities, Bank also donated a full fledged Ambulence to the medical facilities of Taralabalu Brihanmath, Chitradurga.  Responding to the call of Hon’ble Prime Minister on rural sanitation, bank also unveiled plan of action to construct 84 toilets for girl children at various Govt. schools at villages across the country.

These programmes were followed by a superlative musical programme, a saxophone recital by the famous artist, Padmashri Kadri Gopalanath,which enthralled the audience.
