Bangalore, 31st October, 2014: Pearson Schools, a part of the world’s leading learning company Pearson in association with Amara Jyothi PU College celebrated an inter School and college event, ‘Halli Chitra’. It was an attempt to revive the culture & heritage of the villages in Karnataka and bring up the true spirit of folk performance in Karnataka. More than 25 schools and colleges of Bangalore participated in the cultural Programme. The event witnessed the presence of chief guest, the famous theater personality Master Hirannaiah, Rajyotsava & Gubbi Veeranna award recipient.

Speaking at the occasion chief guest, Master Hirannaiah said “It is indeed a great effort to bring out the hidden spirit of Karnataka Folk Culture and making our youths aware of the deep and rich cultural heritage of Karnataka. It is our duty and is of utmost importance to help our younger generation to understand the culture and tradition of Karnataka. Such cultural events help in bringing out the dying spirit of Karnataka Folk Culture and encourage people to reach out to the corners of the world.”
Karnataka folk dances like Dollu Kunitha, Somana Kunita, Kangeelu Kunitha, Huttari Dance and Krishna Parijatha are some of the beautiful folk dances performed by the students.
Ms. Taranum Iqbal, Principal, Amara Jyothi PU College said “In the effort of making our students globally ready, we at Pearson Schools and colleges constantly try to make them future all-rounders. Such events not only become a source of entertainment for the students but also create a great learning platform for them to know and understand the deep cultural essence of our state.”
