India – The registration phase for the eighth Henkel Innovation Challenge” has just started. Under the slogan of Create. Learn. Grow., Henkel is inviting students from all over the world to submit their visionary ideas for sustainable products and technologies.

 Students of any discipline from 28 countries have the opportunity to take on the role of business development manager and register at www.henkelchallenge.com with their innovative ideas up until 10 December 2014. It’s simple to take part. To enter the international competition, the students need to form a two-person team and create a concept for one of the three business units Adhesive Technologies, Beauty Care or Laundry & Home Care. The task is to identify market trends and challenges for 2050 and develop ideas that are aligned to the Henkel sustainability strategy. The teams must convince a jury of Henkel managers, and the best ones will take part in the international final to be held in Vienna in spring 2015. The winning team will receive an around-the-world ticket worth 10,000 Euro. The second and third-placed teams will also receive travel vouchers. All three teams will have the opportunity to meet Henkel CEO Kasper Rorsted in person and present their innovation concepts.

Ace Creative Learning forays into retail education solutions

 Launches DeekshaTab for students aspiring to crack CET & Comed-K

Bangalore, September 30, 2014: Ace Creative Learning, one of the pioneers of introducing the concept of integrated learning in schools for students of class 11 and 12 in Karnataka, today, announced its foray into the retail segment in education. As a first step in this process, the company launched its flagship retail product, the DeekshaTab.

With an investment of Rs 5 crore on the development of the DeekshaTab, Ace Creative Learning is looking at reaching out to 5000 customers by the end of this financial year and is looking at revenues of Rs 15 crore from the same.

The DeekshaTab will be launched in the market at a price of Rs 34,999. The launch product is one among a series of products that Ace Creative Learning plans to line up in the coming months, targeted at other competitive exams such as JEE, NEET, GATE and UPSE. In addition to it, another area of focus would be to develop products for students of class 5 to 12.

By the year 2020 Ace Creative Learning is looking at reaching out to 50,000 students and acquiring a 20% market share in the education TABLET business.

The event took place at Good Shepherd’s auditorium, Museum Road, Bengaluru on September 27, 2014 and attracted large number of photo enthusiasts, primarily DSLR users, hobbyist photographers as well as professionals. The Photomarathon is a uniquely designed event organised by Canon to promote photography culture through theme based healthy competition.

The format of Canon Photomarathon 2014 required each contestant to shoot pictures within limited timeframe on given themes: Tranquillity and Chaos. Themes were announced just before the event began which made it even more competitive. The pictures were judged by well-known photographers based on their creative, technical and narrative sense. The highlight of the event was The Grand prize- the Photoclinic, that includes attending a, once-in-a-lifetime photography tour led by experts to selected destinations around the world which was won by Vivek Mathur. Jackson Johnson and Jayaprathab Mathuraiveeran won the second and third prize respectively and got Canon DSLR cameras, exclusive Canon merchandize, and 10, 1 year subscriptions to the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan. There were also exciting theme-based prizes won.

The 3 judges for the event were Bengaluru based Advertising & Fashion Photographer Mr. Waseem Khan, widely published Macro Photographer & Director NICC Bangalore Dr. Akash Rose and most sought after Wedding & Lifestyle Photographer Ms. Neeta Shankar.

Other attractions at the Photomarathon 2014 included 2 seminars, delivered by noted wildlife photographer Mr. Sudhir Shivaram, and HOD Photography at NICC Bangalore, Mr. Jeevan Pathare, as well as an equipment cleaning camp organized for participants. In addition to this, Canon select DSLRs and lenses were also on display, for participants to get a feel and hands-on. Bangalore, 28th September, 2014: Over 2,000 people from all walks of life took part in the Green Walkathon organized by Indian Green Building Council, Bangalore chapter as a part of World Green Building Week 2014. The Green Building Week is being celebrated in 100 countries representing more than 27,000 organizations.

The Walkathon took place in Cubbon Park to underline how green buildings can bring about a positive & profound effect at various levels- Individual, Society and Nation. The place we live, work, study, commute and play, should all go the green way was the loud & clear message that came out of the Green Walkathon. The theme for this event is- Get Up, Green Up”.

“For many, Green has becoming a fashion statement. The day we transform fashion into passion, we become the contributing factor for a sustainable environment”, Mr. Syed Mohamed Beary, Chairman, IGBC Bangalore Chapter said, addressing the enthusiastic participants. He thanked the partakers for joining the Green Cause and added that Individual Ownership, Collaborative Efforts and Creative Leadership should be the mantra for a Greener future of our country.

Bangaloreans expressed their solidarity by marching with great gusto in the Cubbon Park. Banners and placards were held aloft with slogans exhorting people to make Green as a way of life. This will go a long way in making our Planet Earth Greener & Healthier.

Employees from Interface, Otis, HP, Bearys Group, BCIL, CREDAI, IGBC, Schools, Clubs and several other organizations participated in the walkathon and showed immense support to the Green Building Movement.

Waste to Art- CII IGBC & Winners

 Dr. Chandrasekhar Hariharan, Co-Chair, IGBC Bangalore Chapter encouraged the participants connect with IGBC more often to suggest ideas on making the future Green Building Week a bigger success and to enjoy themselves thoroughly today.

The day was also marked by presenting of awards to school children from schools around Bangalore like, Vidya Shilp Academy, Sri Chaitanya Techno School- Hebbal, Gear Innovation International School etc. who enthusiastically took part in the Art from Waste competition. This was a special competition that showcases a creative artworks made out of re-used and recyclable waste materials.

“Mega Cause Run 5K Bengaluru”

Over 4000 people across the city have participated in the “Mega Cause Run 5K Bengaluru” organised by SANCHALANA, a voluntary organisation at Kanteerava stadium in the city today.

The event was organised in association with Paralympic Committee of India (PIC) and Karnataka Sports Association for Physically Handicaped (KSAPH) to provide financial assistance for the Physically Challenged sports and sports persons.

Flagging off the run, Union Railway minister DV Sadananda Gowda said, “I am grateful to the SANCHALANA organisation which organised this event which is the first of kind to support physically challenged sports and sports persons in the Country. It is also a Birth anniversary of legend Bhagath Singh today.”

“Along with financial assistance we need to provide mental support for the physically challenged sports persons. I would like to wish good luck for those who are participating in the para Olympics   scheduled to be held in Korea,” said Sadananda Gowda.

The run was conducted in four categories one was general, second was Senior citizens, third was students and the fourth was physically challenged. In General Men category Mr.Vignesh and in women category Kalpanacompleted the task first and bagged the Air ticket to Singapore.

Other two runners in each category were felicitated with the medals and participation certificate.
