BLIX MAKES SMARTPHONES SMARTER

 REMEMBERING PLACES WITHOUT ADDRESSES

Today’s discerning smartphone users not only travel for business but also leisure and in the process gets exposed to many new places. Across major India cities and towns, economic and infrastructure progress is adding to addresses which are increasingly becoming hard to remember and use.Today, digital mapping and location-based services help us navigate our world like never before. At the same time, it has never been harder to get lost.  In a new world of smartphones with GPS, and instant everything, why are we still using addresses to find places? Addresses are hard to remember, addresses are hard to share, and addresses can’t help you find a trail-head, a playground, or a special bench in the park.

There simply has to be a better way which we call BLIX…

The application uses the GPS in an Android or iOS smartphone to help users record/share places, add photos, notes and tags to further personalize each location. Search and filter features enable users to create custom lists of places – and share them with friends through mail, text and social media. Simply by tagging a specific location, one can ‘Blix’ the area and associate it with a special tag (must visit Indian restaurant; best street food joint in Bangalore etc). Users can also assign dates to these tags so they appear in a preferred order. While on a trip, users can simply click “get directions” and Blix will help them navigate to a specific destination. It saves them the hassle of remembering any address. Moreover, with Blix, saving one’s favorite places and sharing them is just a few clicks away- via notes, pics and a links to digital mapping.

 John Samuel

John Samuel, Co- Founder, Blix says, “We created Blix so that all of the places in our lives – both special and practical – can be saved and organized in one easy to use mobile application. At the same time, we wanted to create an app that would act like a personal travel companion helping users record, track, save places important to them and share it only with people they choose to.” In that sense Blix is the first ever mobile app in the personal directory space in India, available for free download on Android and iOS.

Bruce Woolsey, Co- Founder, Blix adds, “Sometimes there are locations from a special vacation – a hidden café, a beautiful beach or a unique local boutique- and at times, places that need to be saved for practical reasons – your child’s friends’ house, or office locations of your clients etc. Blix makes it easy to remember places and makes the process of storing destinations and helping you find them easier than before.”
