TVS Motor Company launches Stylish TVS StaR City+ in Karnataka


Bangalore, May 30, 2014: TVS Motor Company today launched its all-new commuter motorcycle, TVS StaR City+ which is an ideal combination of modern styling, superior engine performance and class leading comfort. This all-new motorcycle, which comes with a host of first-time features, builds on the legacy of the TVS StaR brand, which has more than 4.5 million customers across the country. Derived from the ‘Ecothrust’ engine of TVS Phoenix, the 109.7cc power mill of TVS StaR City+ provides an ideal combination of smooth performance, power and fuel economy. This all new engine delivers better pickup and acceleration and is high in durability.

New urban styling and vibrant new graphics add to the visual appeal of TVS StaR City+. Elegant honeycomb textured side panel grills add finesse to the styling of the motorcycle while streamlining air flow.  A stylish crown visor and trendy rear view mirrors add flamboyance to the motorcycle. A premium Stainless steel muffler complements the bike’s silver shock absorbers and it’s sporty aluminum grab rail. Black alloy wheels, premium three dimension emblems and stylish flashy tail lamp add flair to the motorcycle. The overall chiseled and muscular ‘flow motion styling’ gives the TVS StaR City+ a distinct road presence.

The new “Ecothrust” engine delivers a solid four stroke performance, churning out 8.4 PS of power at 7,000 rpm with a torque of 8.7 Nm at 5,000 rpm. High torque ensures more power and pickup, with the motorcycle racing from zero to sixty in just 7.6 seconds with a top speed of 90kmph. Finer engineering aspects carried out within the ‘Ecothrust’ engine of the TVS StaR City+ make it one of the smoothest performers in its category. Carburetor optimization aids better charge preparation and inlet port providing high charge motion, triggered by an intelligent ignition system which provides optimum spark based on speed and load ensures that the TVS StaR City+ delivers better torque at all engine speeds. TVS STaR City+ returns a stunning fuel economy of 86 kmpl, the highest among its peers.  The ‘Ecothrust’ engine has a four speed gear box, with the added feature of electric start in any gear.

TVS Motor Company has added several first time features in this motorcycle. The comprehensive digital dashboard has an analogue speedometer and an advanced digital information display. It also houses a service indicator which intimates the rider when the bike is due for service and an econometer which guides the rider to maximize fuel economy. A digital fuel gauge displays precise fuel level indication while a digital odometer conveys the exact number of kilometers covered.

Telescopic front shock absorbers and five step adjustable rear shock absorbers ensure a comfortable ride on almost any road surface. A padded dual tone seat made of superior material with contrast stitching makes long rides easy. Soft touch premium switch gear adds to the comfort of the motorcycle. First ever authentic Maharashtrian vegetarian restaurant opens in Bengaluru


Bengaluru,  May, 2014 – PURNABRAMHA, the first ever authenticMaharashtrian Vegetarian cuisine restaurant opened at HSR Layout. Inaugurated by famous Marathi actor and food expert, Prashant Damle, the new restaurant is the brainchild of four young IT professionals who aim to provide sumptuous food with a dash of Marathi culture in a perfectly Maharashtrian ambience.

Fortis Healthcare organizes Health Camp at RTO

Chennai, May 28th 2014: Fortis Healthcare, Chennai in association with RTO Chennai West today conducted a free health camp at the RTO premises. The camp saw a footfall of around 300-350 people who were screened for height, weight, BMI, Random Blood Sugar, BP etc.

The event also included a special talk on Road Safety by Dr. Tharagaram, Head of Emergency, Fortis Healthcare Chennai. Dr. Tharagaram spoke about various aspects of road safety and also conducted a small session on immediate action to be taken in case of a road traffic accident.

The team from the RTO Chennai West headed by Mr. Ashok Kumar, Motor Vehicles Inspector spearheaded this initiative. Each year, all the Fortis network hospitals organize several camps on different health concerns based on the need of a community. Through these camps, the facilities use the opportunity to create awareness on different topics which help people take required measures to protect themselves from preventable diseases.

Canadian International School celebrates Graduation Day

Bangalore: May 24, 2014: The graduating students “Class of 2014” of Canadian International School (CIS) Bangalore were given a fond farewell at the valedictory ceremony in a grand way. The event was full of nostalgia & memories but also one of looking ahead. The event began with a ceremonial procession with students clad in graduation gowns and caps. Parents were also present to encourage their wards and witness the grand spectacle.


The opening speech was given by Mr. Shane Kells, Head of School. The school presented various awards to the talented students in recognition of their consistent, exceptional academic achievement over the entire programme. Students shared their experiences and paid tributes to their mentors.

Of the 58 students graduating from CIS this year, 54 have been accepted to various Colleges/Universities, 2 are fulfilling Military Service and 2 are taking a ‘gap year’. This year, CIS graduating students have been admitted to top Colleges again, like Brown University, Cornelland Columbia University (of the Ivy League), Carnegie Mellon, NYU, Purdue, Duke and many others in the USA, University of Toronto, Waterloo, University of British Columbia and the University of Alberta, to name a few in Canada, as well as Imperial College, Warwick, Edinburgh and other fine Colleges in the UK.

Farmers protested near Mandya circle and demand cancellation of 6-lane High Way


Bangalore, 23rd May 2014: Mandya localites along with a few farmers protested near Mandya circle against Government’s decision to make Mysore – Bangalore highway as a 6-lane  express way.The protesters led by Yogananda Patel and Mari Gowda, Gram Panchayath member, Tooganakere submitted the memorandum to the District commissioner of Mandya. Yogananda Patel also submitted the memorandum to MLA Mr. Ambareesh, PWD Minister, Mr. H.C Mahadevappa and MP Mr. C.S Puttaraju in Zilla Panchayath Office.


The main topic of the memorandum was about the State Government acquiring  land for road broadening of Bangalore – Mysore highway. The memorandum said that there has already been land acquisition for the construction of the Bangalore – Mysore infrastructure corridor by Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) Ltd. The Making of 6-lane by the State Government would mean acquiring new land. It would also mean levy of toll on the uses of the 6-lane.
The memorandum proposed that if toll has to be anyway borne by commuters the proposed 111-km NICE road itself can be used instead of the new one  proposed by the State Government.

Female Power: Kochi vrooms as India gets second She Taxi service Kerala Govt to support women-only cab service across state



New Delhi/Kochi, May 21: Kerala took yet another grand stride in female empowerment, as India’s first 24×7 women-only cab fleet facilitated by the state government rolled into a second city in its homeland. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy launched the ‘She Taxi’ in Kochi, spurred by the success of its debut in capital Thiruvananthpuram six months ago.

Enthused also by the entry of women entrepreneurs into a male-dominated sector like transport, the Government of Kerala will extend all possible support for further expansion of the project to more cities in the state, Chandy said after the inauguration in this coastal city on Monday evening.

The state government’s Department of Social Justice is backing the venture which has been conceived and implemented by The Gender Park and has actress Manju Warrier as its goodwill ambassador. She Taxi “has become a women empowerment model for countries across the globe to emulate”, the chief minister noted.
