Government of Karnataka has agreed to fulfill the demands of Handloom Weavers. Government of Karnataka  has stated that powerlooms shall not be introduced in the traditional handloom clusters and Handloom Reservation Act will be enforced effectively.  Government has invited  handloom weavers representatives for discussion on the financial demands of handloom weavers and various handloom schemes. A delegation will go to Delhi to discuss about various schemes of central Government.

    In the background of all these developments,  Karnataka Unit of the Federation of All India Handloom Organisations have decided to defer the Handloom Satyagraha in Karnataka and to end the hunger strike.  The Satyagraha shall continue in other States of India.

  Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka Shri Siddaramaiah,  Hon’ble Minister for textiles  Shri Babu Rao Chinchansur, and officers of handloom and textile department, are to be congratulated for  responding positively to the demands of handloom weavers. Various organisations of weavers, workers and farmers, writers, artists, social activists and handloom consumers have joined hands and are responsible for the success of  Satyagraha.  The federation is grateful to all of them.
